Spring
Spring is the quiet season and comes slowly here in the Lake Sunapee Region. In late March, sap starts running in the sugar maple trees and our sugar houses welcome visitors and offer up some sweet samples of nature's bounty. Mt. Sunapee will still have a few good runs left for the spring skier lasting until mid-April.

Spring heralds new life everywhere and it's no different here in Sunapee. Our trees are slowly putting out new leaves; the crocuses and daffodils are blossoming along stonewalls.

Trillium and lady slippers can be found in the woods and the birds and animals are more evident. The loons and woodcock will be migrating back to our lakes and woods and the wild turkey and grouse will start their mating and nesting rituals.

In April, the lakes will start to thaw, "ice-out" as we say, and several of our lakes will provide the fisherman the thrill of catching a land-lock salmon.

The days will warm and bikers will start touring the back roads, traveling from village to village. Hiking in the woods, hills and mountains can be a bit muddy but the scenery and views will be worth it.

By late April-early May the areas four golf courses will be open. A spring golf outing here offers golf without delays along with great area lodging and dining values. Weekday discounted greens fees are available at most of the courses.

For a quiet time, a chance to refresh and renew, visit us this spring. For more information, please use our contact form, e-mail chamberinfo@nhvt.net, or give us a call at 603-526-6575 or 877-526-6575.
